Hello and welcome to Stop Bingeing Now!
Thanks so much for visiting my brand new blog and web site. I’m really excited about it and hope you’ll like what you see here. I’ve had many, many years of experience of working with binge eating and related issues, and with Stop Bingeing Now I hope to reach as many people as possible who might, in some way, be looking for help or answers to their body image and food issues.
Just so you know what kind of person is writing here……… basically I don’t “do” psycho-babble, waffle, academic , hard- to digest tomes; there are plenty of those about already! I will however direct you to any I think are interesting (even if I don’t always agree with them!). I DO do straight talk, have opinions (based on research, professional and personal experience) and sometimes you won’t agree with me, but that’s fine! I find that almost every day there is a new opinion or piece of research and I don’t know about you, but I find this all a bit overwhelming at times with the sheer volume of “expertise” out there and it just makes me want to go and have a lie down. For some of you the conflicting messages are stressful enough to trigger a binge I’m sure!
When I’m with my clients I challenge their “reasons” for unwanted binge eating behaviours and I hope to use this blog to help you to do the same, if that’s why you are following me. I’m aiming to get as much interesting and relevant information out to you from wherever I find it to help you to discover what’s new, to help you to think about your own binge eating behaviour (if that’s what you have) and also to provide support to those of you who have someone in your lives who are struggling with bingeing
