About Me

My Approach

First off, you should know that I’ll support you all the way.

My approach to clients is yet direct and pragmatic, I avoid jargon and get to the point!  People who come to me do so because this approach suits them and they find it helpful and even refreshing!

And, guess what- you might even have fun along the way; there’s a time and place for being serious of course- and binge eating is very serious but this doesn’t mean we focus only on that aspect of your journey- because my SOLUTION FOCUSED approach is future- thinking, positive and generates results more quickly, which is great, isn’t it?

Your binge eating does NOT define you as a person. It’s behaviour that may limit you right now – but you are not only a binge eater! There is SO much more to you than that!

It’s worth noting too for those of you who think that your life will be better, that it will be more fun, your social life will improve, you’ll have a better sex life- ONCE you have recovered and are binge- free- that yes, all of that may well be true, but –

While you are waiting for your life to get better, you are actually living – right now!

So we also take time to explore the good things about your life as it is today- because no matter how low you are feeling now, there are always good things to celebrate. Really. We will find them! Trust me.

Who is Su Brampton?

So this is the part where I’m supposed to provide as many impressive qualifications as I can cram on to a page, as that’s what makes someone good at what they do, correct? Well, I’m happy to share that information with you if that helps to reassure you, but the most important thing, I believe, is that you feel that you like my approach and feel that you can work together with me, and I with you, whether it’s “virtually” or face to face.

Why do I say this?

Because when I was really struggling with my eating and body image issues (and I did for very many years), I went to all sorts of practitioners for help because I felt desperate.

I consulted

  • GP
  • Nurses
  • Counsellors
  • Hypnotherapists
  • Nutritionists
  • Psychologists
  • Dieticians

I wasted huge amounts of time, effort and money. I can’t even begin to think about the overall cost (in money, time and angst) of consultations, referrals, books, self help manuals and the like. I could have paid my mortgage off years ago!

Most of these practitioners, although very well qualified in their field, just did not understand the issues as they affected me and/ or just did not have the approach that I wanted or needed.

But in the end I found one or two people who “got” it, and “got” me – and THAT was the most important thing.
